Milt specifically did not want a memorial service, but we think he would be OK with the written word. We have opened this site so his family and friends and those who worked with or knew Milt would have a chance to say their piece and tell their special stories. So, in the spirit of Milt’s memory -
we present his memorial blog!

Father Taught His Son - LHS 3/28/2011

I was forty years old
When my father taught his son
How to tie shoe laces
So they wouldn't come undone

Well he taught me how to stand
Taught me how to walk
Taught me how to run
And taught me how to talk

He taught me how to drive
And how to play poker
How to drink whiskey
And throw a punch from the shoulder

About the high Sierra
And how to shoot a gun
How to tell a limerick
And how to have some fun

He taught me about books
About truth and sense
How to use a slide rule
And to make experiments

All about history
And how to be a reader
Of the nature of things
And how to be a teacher

I was forty years old
When my father taught his son
How to tie shoe laces
So they wouldn't come undone

He taught me how to laugh
Be grateful and be glad
Taught me how to love
And what it means to be a Dad

I was forty years old
When my father taught his son
How to tie shoe laces
So they wouldn't come undone
